Starbucks recently announced new sustainable objectives that are planned to be achieved by the end of 2030. It is not the first time that the company has set up sustainable goals to be accomplished in the medium and long term. In September 2018, Starbucks established that they were aiming to have 10,000 environmentally-friendly stores by 2025 considering new buildings, renovations and existing business establishments. In this occasion, the coffee company highlights 3 new sustainable goals which are to cut its current emissions of carbon, generated waste and water usage by its half. Such targets are expected to go along with existing efforts of the company’s commitment towards sustainability.

One of the ways to achieve such goals is through the implementation of LEED considering that several approaches contained in this certification system enables stakeholders to achieve better practices by implementing strategies to reduce energy consumption, enhance water and waste management, reduce greenhouse gases among others. Starbucks achieved 1,000 LEED-certified stores by the end of 2016, and has become one of the leaders in the F&B industry adopting LEED and leading the way towards a more sustainable future.
